My First Post

I like my job and I love and respect my company.  The problem stems from that word “passion” that people throw around when trying to define themselves, start a career, or just make a major life change.  Where does passion come from? Is it tied to creativity and how do I get that?  What is my passion and what can I do to harvest some in myself?  Since I don’t have the answers to these questions, and a lot of my hobbies cost a lot of money, I figure maybe I can use blogging to develop some interests, skills, and maybe some friendships.  My interests are fairly typical and I hope that you, as readers, will find some common ground.  So, welcome to my first blog post… and, wish me luck!

Powder Room says “Make Me Over”

I love where we live.  I don’t love our condo, but I do LOVE our neighborhood and I have no plans of leaving, so I just dream about what I can do to make our apartment a better home for us… Insert “If I had $1,000,000” theme music…

If we had a duplex unit or an extra few hundred sq. ft. of space, I would be willing to put in as much money necessary to make it my dream home.  But, I’m genuinely torn about putting money into this place without knowing how long we’re going to stay.  In the meantime, I just dream about renovating our bathroom [and kitchen but who’s keeping track].

It’s a small bathroom, and for the most part, I really like the tile that the seller put in it, though I HATED her.  (Does that happen to most people?)  But, it’s not perfect and I would love to do a few things, all very reasonable.

These are the things I would like to do: remove the bathfitters crap that is in the shower alcove; tile the bathroom alcove in white subway tile, remove and replace the bathtub (really hoping the tub isn’t some gargantuan iron tub).  I want to replace the sink, not the style of sink, just the design, the mirror and the lights.  Doesn’t sound like too much, right?  Well we’ll see because right now it’s all a dream.  In the meantime, I just stare at inspirational pictures and hope that one day I can have one of these lookers all of my own.  These are all realistic and have features I could incorporate into my renovation, IF I had a million dollars…

Why can’t I do this myself (or why can’t J do this for me)?  How many people do their own bathroom renovations?  Would you take on a project of this size on your own?

This isn’t exactly white subway tile (travertine maybe?), but it’s a gorgeous alternative – not too shabby… OK, I love!

But this is the one that I would love to make mine!

If any of you are expert home renovators that would like to volunteer, I would be happy to pay you in love and appreciation with a case of beer or Coca Cola and pizza.

So what are your ideas of the perfect bathroom and would you have to move to attain it?
